We would like to thank one of our particpants for this report on the event: On Thursday we arrived at Zilvia’s Hoeve. We set up the tent and we presented us. That night we could sleep quietly. Next morning at nine o’clock was the horse inspection, so we got up at eight. We cleaned the horse and after that we where extremely nervous. Fortunately all horses where in order. At three in the afternoon, the compulsory tests of the junior teams where held. The three junior teams, Roy Rogers, team Germany and St. Hülfe-heede jr, did it all good. After the junior teams the senior teams had to perform. One team from France, two teams from Great Britain, three teams from the Netherlands, one team from Belgium and one team from Germany. At 17:10 the compulsory tests where finished. We tried to cook on our little camping-cookingstove. When it appeared not to work, we bought French fries in the canteen. At 19:15 was the opening ceremony. First came a little white horse and a huge black horse forward. They showed a nice piece of free dressage. After the horses came a couple of trainers forward. They represented all a participating country. This show was very funny, especially when the representative of Australia, Cynthia Danvers, -changed as kangaroo- tore from her package.
The next day at nine I had my compulsory test. At 10:00 were the compulsory tests of the male and female individuals. Between the compulsory tests of the individuals and the free tests of the teams was a break-up of two ours. In those two ours, I interviewed Tim-Randy Sia. I collected courage all day to make an appointment. When I asked him, he proved to be very friendly. We appointed at 13:00 at our tent. I was very nervous but it went all good. I know now, that he never does power training, because in more former days he did heavy work. I know too, that he likes to ride his motorcycle, but that he can’t do it frequently, because of the risks. I know too, that he wants to let his children to do a sport were they can make money, like soccer or tennis. He likes and tries to be a Vaulting-idol, and his worst exercise is the needle. His vaultingsuit is a motorcycle-suit, and before a competition, he does as if he is at home, and more. During the interview he was quietly eating his French fries. After the break-up the junior teams had to perform and after them the senior team and the individual free tests. This whole day was fantastic to see. All individuals and teams where very good. After all those free tests we got Chinese food. Sunday the finals where held. This day too was brilliant to see. At 16:40 was the prize giving ceremony. It was very hot, because we had to wear our tracksuit. It was very serious too. There were placards for all countries. All longeurs and horses got a prize, and of course the vaulters too.
I liked the whole CVI, and I hope that next year there is another CVI in the Netherlands and I hope that the French team will join then also. |
